When your brain says, "It can't just be you, there must be something to it," check to see if her radar is saying the same thing about you. If she's still buying stock in Trojans, you're definitely wasting your time!
You must take things at face value. If your friend says that she loves the way your hair looks, it doesn't mean that she wants to run her fingers through it later, it means she loves the way your hair looks, that's it. When you find yourself writing her name all over your doodle pad at work, it's time for a reality check! Nip that dream world in the bud and get a friend to take you out cruising for a woman who will bite back.
In the end, you want to trust your heart, but you can't always do that. The heart is a hopeful one that can sway you in directions that lead nowhere if you forget to play chaperone. There is not a thing wrong with platonic love, even if it doesn't keep you warm and in perma-smiles like the real deal.
So enjoy your friendship and party hearty, but keep your sexual advances in check until you get a true sign of affection. For the platonically-impaired, this means a French kiss, a playful fondle paired with fiery come hither eyes or an all-out declaration of lust. Otherwise, all bets are off; sorry, girlfriend. Break out the Magic Wand, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!
