"Resistance is Futile" An Interview with Vaxen
- By Nicole Blizzard

You mentioned earlier that you write a series of stories called the "Element Of..." series. How did you come to develop this series?

It started as a two part story - a challenge to myself to see if I could do it. The end of the second part left the relationship consummated, but otherwise pretty much dangling. Part three took care of that. By then I had a foundation that other ideas could be built on. There was no major plan. Story ideas occurred to me and I felt compelled to write them. My 14th, "Element of Magic" will be posted by the time you release this. I think it will be the last in the series.

On the "Delta Quadrant Of Venus" site, Tenderware mentions and responds to comments made by Jeri Ryan, who plays Seven, at Fedcon 7 in May 1999. Jeri stated categorically that Janeway and Seven would never have a romantic relationship. Recent story lines seem to moving away from the relationship between Janeway and Seven. They have even shown Janeway having a romance with a holographic man. What is your take on this?

No matter what Paramount does with the characters, I will continue to see Janeway and Seven as a good match for each other. The fact that they have resorted to holographic lovers for Janeway tells me that the character is avoiding the truth about who should really be in her life. J/7 aside, Sullivan is one of the lamest ideas they ever came up with.

In the recent documentary "Trekkies", they talk about slash fan fiction on the internet and even interview a couple of fan fiction writers. Have you seen "Trekkies" and if so what did you think about this?

The segment dealing with fan fiction left the viewer with the impression that it is all about sex or at least mainly about sex. The only direct references made were to Kirk/Spock slash, which existed even before there was an Internet. I can't say I've read any K/S, but the really good J/7 stories are a lot more than just sex. Most J/7 fan fiction, even when it does have a sexual element, is about romance.
