No Boundaries; An Interview With The Butchies

N- How and why did you start Mr. Lady Records? What is the goal and purpose of the label? K- Mr. Lady started because Tammy Rae (the real president!) and I wanted to put out queer and feminist work that we ourselves had made and that are friends were making. We wanted to put out into the world this exciting work that we knew might not make it into the world without us - and certainly it wouldn't be represented well on most other labels because it's queer. The Goal and Purpose, is to get the hell outta debt, ha! To be able to continue to grow as a label, in what kind of stuff we release, expand on ideas of what's Punk and what's Political Music. To press people to buy our videos dammit, cuz people are weird about that, not enough folks are tapping into this, and we make them really affordable; we carry the most incredible works of art.... Another goal is to work within our local and extended queer and politically radical communities, in whatever ways we can, and especially right now to support LAMBDA, the local queer youth group that's so inspiring to us.
